DIETER KRÄNZLEIN - Selected Works

Exhibition, April 4 to May 24, 2008

Opening Reception and Book Release:
Friday, April 4, 2008, 7pm

Sculptures and wall reliefs from concha-limestone are in the focus in our forthcoming exhibition. In the framework of the solo exhibition of Dieter Kränzlein we also present a new book on the Stuttgart based sculptor, containing selected works of the recent ten years.
The exhibition mainly shows current works from 2008. For Kränzlein the most important element in the process of sculptoring is the surfacial structure. This structure is created by the rhythmical cuts of the "Flex", and covers the stone with different patterns, which evoke softness and flexibility in opposite to the hardness and the real attributes of the stone: In his sculptures and reliefs Kränzlein combines the opposites. In a dialogue of stone and tool as the prolonged arm of the artist, Kränzlein creates works, which are liberated from the attributes of its material.
